Introduction of highlights

　　The government has highlighted the cosmetic industry as the next star industry since 2003, and the fast growing biotechnology sector. Therefore, the cosmetics related fields have received a lot of attention. For educating the professionals of cosmetic product, setting up tests, and providing management, our department has recruited the most qualified professionals to design the related courses to cover all of the above areas and try to build up the best learning environment including the newest equipments.

Goals

　　Our department has 4-year and 2-year college programs. In the 4-year collage program, we adopt the sandwich teaching, after studying the first two years of courses, students have to take the curricular practical training at cosmetics related industries or shops, then return to school to continue the program. To increase the enrollment from high school (or equivalent), we have a 2-year junior college program. Our department has closely cooperated with the cosmetic manufacturing companies, beauty shops, SPA saloons, hotels, department stores, and provided the students with excellent working environment for internship.

　　For aggressively promoting the continuing education, our department has designed 80 credit classes and other programs for the people who are enthusiastic to look for the opportunities to further their education.

　　In order to implement our school teaching axle: "To encourage students to have one graduate diploma, to gain two languages, to obtain three awards, and to own four professional certificates", our department has cooperated with the center of general education to elevate the language ability, strengthen the working competitive capability for students. Our school also teaches students to have their own creative ideas, and to promote the priceless of the creative thinking. We have encouraged students to attend the national creativity competition by using their creative ideas and what they learn results from school, furthermore, to get their own patent approval. Our school has also focused on students, personal ethical tutelage, and teaches them to honor their teachers, respect their teachings, in order to reach the excellence in both conduct and academy as well. At the same time, every department has set a goal for students that they could obtain a national professional certificate in each grade during their study years in TPCU and further to implement the professional skill for the future preparation.

Faculty and specialty

　　Our department has 10 full time faculties including one professor, 8 associate professors, 3 instructors, and several other professionals to assist the special practical technique teachings.

Our courses have included the cosmetic chemistry, physiology, cosmetic materials, cosmetic test, cosmetic production, economics, cosmetic sales and management. Our department has focused on both theoretical and technical teachings.

　　Currently, we have nine special classrooms, and all are equipped with advanced instruments, further to provide the best learning environment for students. Our department has prepared the most advanced portable computers, LCD projectors, and self-designed teaching software, these should encourage students to develop fast professional growing atmosphere.

　　Our teaching has focused on inspiring students learning, exploring their interests, and stimulating their potentials. Besides the basic knowledge, we have more emphasized on the projects of special topics. Students can spend one year proceeding their own special topic on one to one basis followed by their interests, further to train the independent thinking and the problem solving skills.

Advanced study and employment

　　Our graduates can follow their own interests to choose production, test, or sales in the cosmetic areas. Based on the statistics within three years, every graduate from the cosmetic department has 2-3 working opportunities, and has a bright future.

Future hope

　　The needs for the cosmetics is increasing based on the fast growing of the biotechnical and materials industries, alongside the requirement for a high quality life from more of the populations. As a result of this trend, professionals are widely needed for cosmetic production, setting up tests, and developing in management and related areas.

　　Except using the cosmetics, more attentions have brought in their safety and cleanness; therefore, our department has built up a cosmetic test center to service the public. We also have established a SPA Salon to allow students to practice and feed back with the community.
